Success path

Goals & Planning

For your social marketing to be successful and effective – that is grow your business and make more money – you need to know from the start what your business goals are and who you need to appeal to with your marketing.

From years of working with hair and beauty business owners with my agency, Lockhart Meyer Salon Marketing, I have a clear idea of the main challenges facing owners and also who their ideal clients are. BUT each business is unique so let’s spend a few minutes thinking about your business.

Start by asking yourself…

What are my business goals?

Where do I want to be in 6 and 12 months’ time?

First, paint a picture in your mind’s eye of how you want your business to look in 12 months’ time.

Now decide your 12-month business goals. These are the goals I’m going to help you focus on in your social media marketing, and indeed all your marketing, over the coming months.

It’s important to be specific when setting your goals. Be clear about timings and quantities.

Here are some goal examples:

Now you know where you want to be let me show you how to get there…

#1. WHO is your target audience (your ideal client)?

Why do you need to know who your ideal client is? Quite simply because unless you do it’s almost impossible to create social content that hits the spot with them and inspires them to take action.

Start by identifying your ideal client – who are they, what do they care about, and what are their pain points? Keep this ‘person’ front of mind when creating your social posts – ask yourself ‘Will this content appeal to/interest them?’

Next…

#2. A well-planned monthly calendar of posts

A planned out monthly calendar of posts means you can quickly, easily and consistently post top quality relevant marketing on your social platforms to ensure you achieve those business goals we set earlier.

I create a detailed calendar of posts every month for paid members and as part of your free Salon Socialite Plan you get ‘tasters’ from this calendar which you can use.

Every post in the Salon Social Club is there for a business reason – I call it posting with a (marketing) purpose. In this super-short video I explain why this is so crucial if you want your social media to grow your business and make you more money.

What's the next step?

As you’ve identified content planning and strategy as an area you want to work on, I think you’d find this quiz feedback on content really helpful too…
